Something Old, Something New

Gotta get in the fartsack early tonight. The missus and I are up at the ass crack of dawn on Saturday to get to our first IDPA pistol competition.  That reminds me; We need to get our range bag packed tonight or we’ll most certainly stumble out of the house Saturday morning without some piece of hardware that is mission critical.

I tried to invite my shooting buddy, Julian VonJames, but this is a “match tournament,” which is to say that it’s a private club and my missus and I are only there at the invitation of another member with whom I work.

We’re not “made” yet. It’d be nice to wrangle an invitation to invest in a club membership (if we can afford it).

This is the kind of stuff you do at an IDPA tournament.

Apologies for the corny music. I’m not sure we do anything that cool in our tournament, but I do know they’ve done this in the past:

Sunday it’s off to the Eleven-Acre Wood in Central Illinois to hang with some (old) inlaws I haven’t seen in a while. I haven’t seen them on purpose. Not my favorite thing to do, but My Beautiful Wife needs me to be a gracious husband. I don’t fake sincerity well. Grace is not my strong suit, but she deserves a husband who tries harder to make things work. She deserves better than me, that’s for sure.

Wish us luck and a steady hand.

Happy Friday to you and yours. Stay cool by doing something new this weekend. Get out of your air conditioned comfort zone.
